There are an increasing number of photographers who are interested in challenging traditional photography and pushing the creative capacity of both their camera and themselves. If you’re one of those photographers, this program is designed for you!

The Abstract & Experimental (A&E) Photography Mastermind Group is a 12-month program designed specifically for the exploration of non-traditional photography. Our focus is supporting you in creating, playing, processing, curating, and presenting your abstract images in a way that reflects your individual voice. All genres are welcome: nature, architecture, people, street, etc. We’ll learn about and practice techniques such as Intentional Camera Movement, multiple exposures (in-camera and created in Photoshop), cyanotypes, collage, and combining different art mediums with photography, along with alternative approaches brought by mastermind members.* 

Time will also be dedicated to learning about the art of abstraction and its opportunities, challenges, and value as a form of self-expression. Learning will be put into action through Participants will design a personal photography project to work on throughout the program. Time for image sharing, brainstorming, coaching, and feedback is integrated into monthly group sessions. 
Those are the “outer game” aspects that will culminate in a final project sharing celebration at the conclusion of the program. In addition, we’ll emphasize the “inner game” that’s essential for all artists: building confidence, clarifying your vision, working through obstacles, handling the inner critic, and cultivating an expansive, playful mindset.

(* Our focus is on camera-based and photographic processes. We will not be exploring AI programs, platforms, or tools, except for editing tools in Lightroom and Photoshop that assist with fine-tuning and bring efficiencies to image processing.)
