25.12 The Wild Places Speaker Series

Many of us grew up captivated by the stunning imagery of National Geographic, Planet Earth, and the BBC, visuals that sparked our love for nature, photography, and the untouched corners of the world. At the heart of our passion for photography is a deeper connection to the wild, and the wild places that call to us. But what does it take to truly capture these remote locations, and how do photographers decide what to focus on once they’re there?

This series is unlike any other, a rare look into the minds and methods of some of the most adventurous and visionary wilderness photographers working today.

We begin the series with acclaimed wilderness photographer and expedition leader Marc Adamus. Broadcasting live from his personal gallery, featuring over 60 of his most vivid large-format prints, some as large as 4’ x 8’, Marc will walk us through the stories behind his favorite images from across the globe. Learn how he discovers these extraordinary locations, the specific conditions he seeks, and how boats, planes, and helicopters play a role in accessing the wildest corners of the Earth.

Next, we’re joined by the extraordinary Paul Zizka. While you may not know his name, you’ve likely seen his iconic images. Paul's work transports us to remote and otherworldly landscapes, from Antarctica’s drifting icebergs to the turquoise waters of Polynesia, from Mongolia’s haunting deserts to the hidden gems of the Canadian Rockies. His ability to combine vision, execution, and storytelling sets his work apart in unforgettable ways.

Our final speaker, Murray Livingston, will take you deep into Southern Africa’s wilderness in Rewilding the Soul. This journey explores both the raw outer landscapes, from Namibia’s ancient canyons to the jagged peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains, and the inner journey of reconnecting with nature. Murray’s work blends landscape, wildlife, and personal narrative in a way that’s both meditative and powerful.
