Meet Michele Sons

Michele Sons is a fine art landscape and nature photographer based in Virginia’s Appalachian Mountains, with clients including National Geographic and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Known for quiet, atmospheric images featuring fog, mist, and soft light, her work reflects a deep reverence for the natural world. With a background in environmental science, geography, and spatial analysis, Michele brings a unique, thoughtful approach to photography. Through her platform The Art of Place, she offers eBooks, mentoring, and workshops to help photographers connect with nature and grow creatively. Her work has appeared in calendars, galleries, and nonprofit collaborations, and she was named the 2022 Creative-in-Residence at New River Gorge National Park.
