Stop Chasing Locations. Start Working the Field.

Most workshops take you to places. This one teaches you how to move through them—using your vehicle to access better conditions, stay longer, and create more intentional images.

Overland Fieldcraft

Learn to use your vehicle with purpose—and document it with intention.

Trade hotel rooms and crowded overlooks for dirt roads, remote camps, and real-world decision making. This isn’t about chasing perfect conditions—it’s about learning how to operate in the field, adapt to what’s in front of you, and come away with images that actually reflect the experience.

You’ll leave with more than photos—you’ll leave knowing how to:

  • Set up your vehicle for the way you travel
  • Move efficiently and confidently in the field
  • Recognize and capture moments as they happen

What This Workshop Includes

Field-Based Photography Instruction
Learn composition, light, and storytelling in the environments where it actually matters—not in theory.

Vehicle-Based Exploration
Use your own rig (or learn from others) as part of the process—not just transportation.

Camp Systems & Efficiency
Understand how to set up, break down, and live comfortably without overcomplicating your gear.

Small Group Experience
Limited to a handful of participants so feedback is direct, honest, and useful.

Your Vehicle. Your Basecamp.

Your rig isn’t just how you get there—it’s how you stay, adapt, and experience the landscape.

You’ll be driving or riding in a fully outfitted, trail-ready Jeep paired with a capable trailer setup. Everything is designed to keep you mobile, efficient, and comfortable in the field—without overcomplicating the experience.

What’s Included

Roof-top tents and trailer-based setups provide fast, reliable shelter. Ground tents are available for those who prefer a simpler approach.

Navigation & Safety Equipment
Travel with confidence using proven tools and systems for remote environments.

Smart Storage for Gear
Dedicated space for your personal items and photography kit—organized and accessible when it matters.

Camp Kitchen Setup
A functional kitchen and fridge setup for real meals and cold drinks, wherever we stop.

What Participants Are Saying

This isn’t just a different kind of workshop—it’s a different way of working. Here’s what past participants experienced in the field.

This was my second trip to Death Valley as part of the Nature Photography Collective and this trip was fantastic.  The approach of having the vehicles as our traveling hotels enabled us to go to bed and wake up in some of the most remote and beautiful areas in California.  Nic, Nathan, and Kevin were attentive to individual needs and able to adapt on the fly to match the experience with each individual photographer.  Even after not camping for 30 years I look forward to the next adventure with NPC.

Bill Saltzstein

This was my second workshop with Nature Photography Collective.  I have not camped in over 30 years, but I trusted Nic when he said he would take care of me and he did not disappoint!   I liked getting access to the harder to reach areas via the four-wheel vehicles.

NPC’s Lead Workshop Instructor, Nathan St Andre was particularly good at making suggestions on alternate shots on ordinary subjects. Kudos to the team for the hard work they did behind the scenes to make this workshop run so smoothly.

The concept - Vehicle Based Adventure Travel or Overlanding literally eliminates the travel time of hotel-based photography placing the photographer on site, for dinner, sunset and accommodations on site. While still on site, rising before sunrise, coffee is ready, photographers ready, capturing sunrise and then breakfast!

Next our hosts, with minimal but willing hands we pack up and on to more opportunities!

What a great bunch of folks! 12 strangers got together and no drama! Absolutely wonderful! I am hooked and can hardly wait for the next one!

Focus on the Photos — We’ll Support the Rest

Once we’re in the field, your attention should be on light, composition, and the experience—not logistics.

We handle the behind-the-scenes details so you can stay present and engaged, while still being part of the process.

What That Looks Like

Thoughtful Guidance on the Move
We’ll handle driving when it makes sense—so you can watch the landscape, anticipate moments, and be ready to shoot.

Simple, Well-Executed Meals
Meals are planned and prepared with care, keeping you fueled without overcomplicating camp life.

Streamlined Camp Setup
We manage the core setup and flow of camp, while showing you how it all works—so you leave with knowledge, not just comfort.

Logistics Dialed In
From navigation to firewood to early morning coffee, the details are handled so the experience stays smooth and focused.

What matters most is that you’re free to engage fully—whether that’s dialing in a composition at sunset or understanding how everything comes together behind the scenes.

Purpose-Built Vehicles for the Field

These aren’t just vehicles—they’re tools that shape how we move, where we go, and how long we can stay.

Each rig is thoughtfully outfitted for real use in the field, balancing capability, efficiency, and comfort without unnecessary complexity.

Why It Matters

Go Further, Stay Longer
Access locations beyond crowded pullouts—and stay through changing light without needing to relocate.

Be Ready When It Happens
With gear organized and accessible, you’re not digging through bags when conditions line up—you’re shooting.

Adapt to the Environment
Weather shifts, light changes, plans evolve. The vehicle allows us to adjust without friction.

What You’ll Experience

  • Trail-capable 4x4 vehicles designed for remote travel
  • Roof-top tent and trailer-based camp systems
  • Organized storage for camera gear and personal items
  • Integrated power, refrigeration, and camp kitchen setups

Everything is configured to support the experience—not distract from it.

No overlanding experience required. Built for photographers who want to expand how—and where—they work.

Built for photographers who want to expand how—and where—they work.

If you’ve ever felt limited by access, timing, or logistics, this experience is designed to change that. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to move through the landscape—and the confidence to do it on your own.
