Colorado Wildflower Scouting Adventure

Details:

Nature Photography Collective is always looking for new and exciting adventures to take guests on. One of the adventures we are looking to explore more is photographing wildflowers in the Rockies. In July 2027 we are looking to launch a special exploratory workshop. This workshop is designed around finding the best places to photograph wildflowers in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains. The goal of the adventure is to explore, find out and see if there is any potential for this type of workshop in the future. Because this is a different type of adventure where we are going into the unknown, we are not announcing it as a regular workshop. This is more of an exploration trip, though instructions will be provided.

Daily Itinerary

Day One: July 10

The adventure will begin July 10th in Durango. From here we will head into the mountains to see what we can find. The plan it to explore Last Dollar road, find camping, and find flowers. We may spend some time hiking to see if there are any good locations in the region that are a bit further away from the roads.

Day Two: July 11

On our second day we will catch sunrise on Last Dollar road then head deeper into the mountains and explore an area that is generally known for wildflowers. Though the area is known, we are hoping to get away from the crowds with our jeep and hiking to find the best wildflower patches. The hope is to camp Yankee Basin or Governor Basin this evening and catch a stunning sunset here.

Day Three: July 12

On our third sunrise we will catch sunrise near where we camped then head to a remove mountain pass called Cinnamon Pass, explore the pass and find the best places for wildflowers. This should take most of the day and the plan is to find a great location for sunset and wildflowers and call it a night.

Day Four: July 13

In the morning we will catch sunrise and head back to Durango. We may explore a bit more on our way back and see what we can see along the way. The plan is to be back in Durango in late afternoon and catch dinner as a group in there.
