Preparing Your Images for Print

Printing your work can be an overwhelming process but is extremely rewarding to see your images on the wall or to have the confidence to sell your work to others. We will spend this time together to give you the confidence to print your work on different sizes, on different mediums, and from different companies. These topics we will review will help you assess what images are ready for print, what changes you might want to make to get them ready, and how and where you can get your images printed.

In The Field, Using Photo Apps to Achieve Your Artistic Goals

This session focuses on essential tools that help photographers plan smarter and work more efficiently in the field. We’ll explore popular planning, weather, and mapping apps, including PhotoPills and The Photographer’s Ephemeris, with real-world use cases, key features, and limitations.

Apps covered: PhotoPills, The Photographer’s Ephemeris, Windy, Clear Outside, Stellarium, Aurora, Gaia, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and The Weather Channel.

You’ll learn when to use one app over another and how to read conditions to maximize your chances of success on any photoshoot.

Fieldcraft for Perfect Exposure

Proper Exposure is a tricky thing. Fundamentally, we often have to make decisions in the field that maximize dynamic range, sometimes at the cost of loosing information. This presentation will walk through the different techniques to get proper exposure in the field and make sure you have the necessary files taken in the field to properly blend your images. We will also discuss a few techniques for post processing success.

Meet Nathan St. Andre

Nathan St. Andre is a photographer based in southern Utah, on the footsteps of Zion National Park. He specializes in the American Southwest, particularly the Colorado Plateau, but will photograph wherever the winds blow him. His background is in Biology, where he has both a Bachelor's and Master's in the subject. He has previously worked for both state and federal agencies, working with rare and endangered animals. Currently, he teaches photography at Utah Tech University and is the spearhead for running photography workshops for Nature Photography Collective.
