Death Valley: From Dunes to Dunes

• Sturdy tripod and ballhead
• Digital SLR or mirrorless camera body.
• Wide angle lens (16-35mm range), preferably with max aperture of f/2.8 or faster for night photography. 
• Mid Range 24-70mm.
• Telephoto lenses in the 70-200. If you have it, bring a 100-400. If not, that's ok.
• Circular polarizer and ND filters for your lenses. If you like shooting with grads, bring them along.
• Backpack to carry your gear
• Extra batteries, memory cards, and cleaning supplies
• Laptop if you wish to backup your photos or follow along during the post-processing instruction

• Sturdy hiking footwear, hiking socks, and long pants
• Warm jacket for cold nights and mornings.
• Rain gear (jacket), and protection for your camera gear
• Headlamp
• Sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat
• Water bottles (at least 2L)
• Hiking poles if you like having them
• Gloves
• Personal Sleeping bag and pillow. If you don't have them we have you covered. 

You'll be camping in scenic, remote locations as we overland through Death Valley. Accommodations include comfortable rooftop tents mounted on the Jeeps or ground tents, depending on your preference.

We offer individual or shared sleeping arrangements, and everything is provided — including sleeping pads, bedding, and camp gear. Whether you're traveling solo or with a partner, you'll have a cozy place to rest after a full day of adventure and photography.

On the first day we will be meeting at Lone Pine California loading up our gear then heading out to Eureka Dunes. These dunes are remote and isolated and will be our first introduction to Dune Photography.

After we enjoy a sunrise at the dunes we break camp and begin the overlanding journey towards the Racetracks. This path will take us by the Saline Dunes where we will make a brief stop. From there we will travel our way to the Racetracks where we will photograph the moving rocks of Death Valley

After we finish at the racetracks we will begin our journey back towards some civilization and the Mesquite Dunes. These dunes are some of the biggest in North America and are the largest fields in Death Valley. Be prepared for some walking as these dunes can get big and might need some wandering to get away from people.

After enjoying a sunrise at the mesquite dunes we will shift south and drive through the main part of the park. If conditions are conducive we will photograph Artists Pallet and possibly some of the side canyons. From here we keep traveling south towards the remote dunes Ibex Dunes of Death Valley.

On our final morning of our workshop we will hike one last time to the Ibex Dunes and photograph the winding dunes and and mountains as the sun rises. After this, we break camp and head back into Lone Pine. Depending on timing we will shoot for a photo editing session and see what images you were able to create while out in the field. Once this is finished we will bid farewell to everyone and wish you the best of luck traveling back to your homes.
